Scheduling Appointments

Morning appointments are generally reserved for younger children or children with special needs.  Hygiene or cleaning and exam appointments are done on different days than treatment appointments.  This helps patient flow and enables our staff to efficiently treat your child.

Confirming Appointments

Because we are responsible for many children with significant needs, treatment time must not be wasted.  We have an electronic confirmation system that will call your home 2 days prior to the appointment.  This call will be in the evening between the hours of 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm.  The computer call will prompt you on how to confirm your appointment.  If the call is missed, you will be called early the following morning.  Please be sure to return any messages so that we may confirm the appointment.

Keeping Appointments

If the appointment does need to be rescheduled, please call our office 36 hours in advance.  We do understand that emergencies arise.  However, with enough advance notice, we may be able to contact another child in need of care.  Therefore, please call as soon as possible when you know you will not be able to keep a scheduled appointment.  This is part of your responsibility as a member of our “dental home”.

Our Responsibility To You And Your Child

Our staff is highly trained and kid-friendly to make you and your child as comfortable as possible.  We provide safe, appropriate, board-certified care for each child we treat.  Prior to any dental treatment, the recommended procedure will be explained to you and we will do our best to answer all of your questions.

When dental treatment requires conscious or deep sedation, the dental office becomes very much like a hospital operating facility.  Every member of the dental team must focus completely on the procedure and the safety of the children.  Accordingly, parents are respectfully asked to stay in the reception area.  After the procedure is complete, parents will be provided with any post-op instructions needed.  For us to be successful in controlling dental disease, we need your help by understanding and complying with this strict rule.

Dental Benefit Plans (Insurance)

To enable us to reach as many children as possible, we participate in most dental insurance programs.  While this list is not totally inclusive, the major contracts we currently participate with include:

  • United Concordia
  • Delta Dental
  • Cigna
  • School Claims Services
  • Aetna
  • Gateway
  • Unison
  • Access
  • UPMC 4 You
  • Med Plus Chip
  • Blue Chip

If we are not a participant with your insurance, we may still be able to see your child, however, you will be responsible for any non-covered services or co-payments.  Payment will be due on the day of service.  Cash, check and credit cards are accepted.

We are not a participating provider with any HMO insurance plans.

All dental appointments in PA constitute legal excuses for school absence.  We are always happy to supply your child with an appropriate legal excuse.
